DISTILLING - It is also ideal for distilling. We recommend using a pound of copper mesh inside your still column. A majority of the old traditional stills you see are made out of copper,
and there is certainly a reason for this.Copper will react with the hydrogen sulfide and isobutyl mercaptan vapors and form copper sulfate.This copper sulfate then bonds with fatty acids
and oils to eliminate skunky and rotten egg smells, creating a better tasting for final product.

Mini Jet Filter Pads by Buon Vino. Each package contains 10 sets of filter pads (quantity of 3/set). 3 filter pads are required to operate filter. All Buon Vino wine filters have been designed to use ORIGINAL Buon Vino Filter Pads or other compatible filters. The micron sizes and consistency of Buon Vino Filter Pads have been designed to give optimal performance when used with Buon Vino wine filters. Each pack of Mini Jet Filters is estimated to filter 30 litres (7.5 gallons) of wine depending on beginning clarity. Wine that has had a fining agent added before filtering may use twice as many filter pads.
Wine Filter Pad Selection:
- The #1 pads are coarse wine filter pads, mainly used for heavy wines. These pads will not show significant change in the wine. They are used to collect and/or break down large particles. We use these pads to filter the wines before barrel aging and for our heavy bodied dessert wines (Port, Ice Style, Sherry). (6 Micron)
- The #2 pads are finer, used for the brightening and polishing of the wine. A significant change should be noticed in clarity and brightness. These are the most commonly used pads and will work for practically all wine filtering applications. (1.8 Micron)
- The #3 pads will further enhance your wines. (These pads should only be used after the wine has been filtered with the #2 Pads at least once to prevent excessive saturation of the filter media due to sediment.) The #3 pads assist in removing up to 80% of the yeast in wine. (0.5 Micron)
All three grades of pads are not reusable and should be discarded when finished.
